Everything to Know About the Gulfstream G200

Fleet

The Gulfstream G200 is a trailblazer; it helped introduce a new aircraft category – the super-midsized class. It continues to be one of the most in-demand private jets, desired for its combination of a spacious cabin, transcontinental range, fuel efficiency, and reliable performance. Its wide, stand-up height cabin and double-club seating arrangement give it the comfort of a heavy jet, without the operating costs of one.

Background

The G200 was developed through an international partnership between Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Texas-based Galaxy Aerospace and entered service in 1999 as the “Galaxy.” In 2001, Gulfstream acquired Galaxy Aerospace and the aircraft was rebranded and redesigned as the “G200.” At the time, the jet stood out for its wider-than-most cabin design in the midsize category, helping define what would later become the super-midsize class.

Capability

Two powerful Pratt & Whitney PW306A engines power the G200, providing 6,040 pounds of thrust for the aircraft to climb to a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet in fewer than 25 minutes. The G200’s 15,000 lbs fuel capacity, significant due to its transcontinental range, is primarily stored in the center and each wing. The heavy wing load helps keep the aircraft stable in a variety of weather conditions, while the fuel distribution improves aerodynamic efficiency. Its supercritical wing design and thin-profile wings enhance both speed and fuel efficiency.

Performance

The G200 is recognized for its fuel efficiency relative to its super-midsized class. And with a 3,900 NM transcontinental range, it’s capable of connecting major business hubs, including New York and Los Angeles. Compared to other super-midsized aircraft, the G200 has excellent short-field performance.

Cabin

Designed for long-range comfort by pioneering industrial design firm Henry Dreyfuss & Associates, the G200 features a spacious extra-wide cabin with true 6’3 stand-up height- the best in its class.
