KIMBERLY HERRELL
CO-OWNER, CEO

Owner and CEO Kimberly Herrell is a 19-year aviation industry veteran. She drives the company’s overall vision with the same determination and commitment to excellence that has defined the first-in-class jet charter operator’s success for a milestone 30 years.

A graduate of Utah Valley University, Kim first made her mark in luxury hospitality prior to applying the invaluable experience to the private aviation industry. She joined Schubach Aviation in 2005 and was appointed to President in 2018 by company namesake and founder Henry Schubach, prior to acquiring the business in January 2020.

As CEO of Schubach, Kim drives Schubach Aviation’s overall vision and corporate values. Under her leadership, Schubach Aviation has instituted a “safety first” organizational culture, earning safety recognition exceeding the required FAA regulations (including IS-BAO Sage 3 and Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). She oversees marketing, sales, and business development initiatives with a strategic focus on future growth, positive company culture and delivering immersive aviation experiences for clients interested in customizable adventures. In 2018, Kim launched Schubach’s successful Elevated Excursions program followed in 2020 by the company’s VIP ACCESS program, a curated collection of one-of-a-kind travel opportunities developed exclusively with the company’s world-class partners that has been featured in Forbes Lifestyle, Robb Report and CNN Travel.

She champions Schubach Aviation’s enduring commitment to philanthropy and is passionately involved in the company’s charitable giving initiatives, which have benefitted non-profit organizations including Monarch School, Shelter to Soldier, Immunotherapy Foundation, and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

Kim was recently honored by Visit CA as a “California Woman Making [Her] Mark” and was recognized as one of San Diego’s 500 most influential business leaders by the San Diego Business Journal, in addition to being a “CEO of the Year” finalist in 2021.

When not leading Schubach, Kim enjoys exploring the globe through international travel with her family.

A highly experienced aviator, Daemon oversees Schubach Aviation’s flight operations and compliance with FAA regulations. He has flown for over 20 years, holds a Bachelor Degree in Aviation Management and has served as an FAA approved company check airman. He has captained the CJ series, Hawker, Citation Sovereign, Challenger 300, and Gulfstream IV and in that time gained extensive worldwide flight experience. Daemon has been with Schubach Aviation for over 12 years and has exemplified leadership, commitment to following best practices and an in depth understanding of FAA rules and regulations. As Director of Operations, he works closely with flight crews ensuring that compliance and safety standards are strictly adhered to. He is actively engaged in our daily flight operations, personally vetting, and releasing every flight.

Phil has a true passion for aviation safety. The consummate knowledge seeker, Phil regularly attends national aviation safety conferences and has completed several aviation management certification courses. He holds a BS in Major Commercial Aviation and a BA in Aviation Management from the University of North Dakota. In April of 2020 he was appointed to the NATA (National Air Transportation Association) Flight Operator Covid-19 Safety Committee. Phil has been a professional pilot for 12 years beginning his career as a Certified Flight Instructor and has served as Chief Pilot at another part 135 charter operation. He has been with Schubach Aviation for 7 years and holds type ratings in the CJ series and Citation Latitude.

One of the most experienced maintenance professionals in the industry, Aldon Colby provides comprehensive maintenance oversight of Schubach Aviation’s fleet. For over 30 years Aldon has served as an indispensable resource for aircraft owners and is highly regarded for his extensive knowledge, meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to maintaining aircraft at only the highest standard. His team provides maintenance tracking, logbook oversight and precise record keeping brining considerable benefit to aircraft owners in maintaining the assets value over time. Aldon is the owner of Hangar One Aircraft Maintenance, the only full-service, FAA approved, Part 142 repair station based at Palomar Airport. He oversees a growing staff of dedicated airplane mechanics, ensuring that Schubach’s fleet aircraft receive immediate, real time attention limiting maintenance related aircraft down time. Aldon works in partnership with aircraft manufacturers Textron, Bombardier, Embraer, and Gulfstream, leveraging decades long relationships to provide complete maintenance care.

Russell Lockwood plays an integral role at Schubach Aviation, managing our valued client’s jet charter needs.

A graduate of the University of Hawaii, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Russell began his aviation career in 2005 as a customer service manager at the Monterey Jet Center in Monterey, CA. He then moved on to a small jet charter company where he filled a multitude of roles, including charter sales, coordinating flights, accounting and more. It was there that he realized his passion for private aviation and has since learned the ins and outs of the industry and running a successful operation.

While the Schubach team has had a longtime relationship with Russell, he officially joined our team in 2015.

In addition to our leadership team, Schubach Aviation is made up of many dedicated, professional pilots and office support team members.
