5 Questions to Ask Before Bringing Your Pet On Board a Charter Flight

For many families, taking a vacation without their pets would feel like leaving a child behind. Schubach understands that pets are family members, and we want to work with you to give you and your pet a great experience.

Here are five questions you should ask any charter company to ensure a seamless and comfortable flight for you and your pets.

1. Do you allow pets on board?

Some charter companies don’t allow this, so make sure this is the first question you ask. Schubach, however, is a very pet-friendly company. We encourage you to fly with your pets – we understand they’re part of your family and that you love to travel with them.

Many of our loyal customers’ pets are always excited to get on the aircraft since they know special treats are waiting for them on board. We get to know your pets just like we get to know your family members, so tell us the kinds of treats your pets like so we can have them on board waiting for them.

2. Does my pet need to be crated in flight?

This is a very commonly asked question. When flying with Schubach, they absolutely do not need to be in a crate while on board.

That being said, you know your pet better than anyone. If it’s your pet’s first flight, a crate may help introduce her or her to the experience. Though it is not required, if you think having him or her in a crate is best, we welcome you to do so.

For many pets, it doesn’t take long for them to get used to flying so the entire experience becomes routine and they are comfortable inside the aircraft without a crate.

3. What kinds of pets can I bring?

We’ve only flown with cats and dogs on board, from tiny Chihuahuas to huge German Shepherds. Some pets, such as a hamster, would need to be caged. However, we’ll work those details out with you on a case by case basis. If you have another type of pet, you are welcome to contact us about it so we can make accommodations for you.

4. Are there additional fees to bring a pet along?

“Cleaning fees” for bringing a pet along vary from company to company. Schubach does not charge any additional fees. When companies do the price is usually $500-$1000 per trip.

5. What if I’m traveling internationally? Can my pet come, too?

Each country has different policies regarding the importation of pets from another country. Given this, make sure to check with your operator to confirm each country’s requirements. As long as you comply with the country’s policies and procedures, your pet can usually travel internationally with you.

We’d love to meet your pets!

Here at Schubach, we’re committed to maintaining our reputation as San Diego’s first choice for charter service. We are passionate about going above and beyond to fulfill our customers’ requests, especially when it comes to their furry friends.

Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions before bringing your pets on board, and we look forward to flying with you and your furry friends.
