Schubach Aviation has a longstanding commitment to supporting locally-based charitable causes, beyond its annual donation-per-mile campaign which makes a nonprofit donation for every mile flown by its customers. One longtime philanthropic partner is Promises2Kids, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting the needs of San Diego County’s foster and former foster youth. Promises2Kids provides the tools, opportunities and guidance to more than 3,000 youth annually, to grow into healthy, happy, and successful adults.
In support of the nonprofit’s efforts, Schubach Aviation recently hosted a group of high school-aged foster youth to introduce them to career opportunities available to them in the private aviation industry.
The day began with a tour of our facility and a visit to the Carlsbad Jet Center, to become familiar with the operations and functions of an FBO (Fixed-base operator). Afterwards, the kids got to meet with members of our team for some Q&A about flight operations, jet charter, and piloting. They especially enjoyed the invite to board the Challenger 601 and explore the cockpit and cabin features.
We hope this experience will be an inspiration as they explore possible career paths.
